I found out on late Thursday night that I would have a change of shift on Friday and would also have to work all weekend. I was planning on hitting the gym hard this weekend since I kind of lapsed on my workouts during the week.
That’s some of the situations we shift workers have to deal with. You probably get a change of shift or have to work some extra days on the spur of the moment. I am not complaining about the extra days though (two days of double time YAY!!!)
You see I was on the 2nd shift all this week (not my favorite shift at all), and was changed to working a 7am to 4pm shift on Friday. I would also have to work 7 to 4 on Saturday and Sunday.
After leaving work at 11pm Thursday and getting to bed about 1am. I barely got enough rest before I had to be up again and make it to work for 7am Friday morning.
At the end of the day I was too tied to even think about working out. On Saturday I worked till 6pm, which was also a very tiring day. Sunday was pretty much the same long ass work day. Did I mention that I did not have any food or snack prepared from home. I ended up eating unhealthy gas station food and snacks for three days straight.
Not a good option if you are planning on living a healthy lifestyle. But I was not worried. Because I knew that on Monday I would be back to my normal self. I would have my meals and snacks prepared from home and I would be back on my fitness routine. The weekend would have been in the past.
Too much of us think that if we slip up, that’s the end and there is no more hope. Don’t sweat the slip ups. Just continue from where you left off. It’s not the end of the world. That past is just that, The Past. That’s that how you handle not sticking to your diet or workout plan.
Just get back on track it’s no big deal.
